The Norwich Gaming Festival invited all to “Test your videogame knowledge”. The pub quiz was held on Friday the 1st of April 2016 at Open Fundraising for The Forum & SpecialEffect. The Quiz was indeed a challenge and slightly biased towards the “Retro” spectrum of the video gaming experience in my opinion – I was particularly lost on the pre 1990’s questions 🙂 Overall the night was a massive success and the Winners emerged as Now Loading. Check out the guys as they found out they won!

Xbox Games with Gold – April 2016 http://gaminguncut.com/news/xbox-games-with-gold-april-2016/ http://gaminguncut.com/news/xbox-games-with-gold-april-2016/#respond Sun, 27 Mar 2016 10:14:38 +0000 http://gaminguncut.com/?p=5680 Xbox Games with Gold – April 2016 The Games with Gold line-up you can’t miss! The Games with Gold roster takes on 3 1/2 BIG hits (4 Games) in April 2016. Remember that thanks to backward compatibility on your new consoles, you can play all four titles, completely free, on your Xbox One when they release on Games with Gold. For the pure Xbox One owners you’ve got two Xbox One games this month; The Wolf Among Us from the storytelling masters at Telltale Games (This is the 1/2 a hit I mentioned before) – followed by the multi award-winning Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive!!! On the Xbox 360, you start the month with one of the most beloved horror-action titles of all time with EA’s Dead Space!, and then roll into the open-world extravaganza Saints Row IV! As usual, all games are available only for a limited time, as part of the ongoing Games with Gold program. The Details: The Wolf Among Us: Available from April 1 – 30 on Xbox One Sunset Overdrive: Available from April 16 – May 15 on Xbox One Dead Space: Available from April 1-15 on Xbox 360 Saints Row IV: Available from April 16-30 on Xbox 360 The world’s gone mad in Sunset Overdrive, thanks to a very bogus energy drink, and it’s up to you to set things right – or, at least, look really cool trying. A combination of grinding rails a la Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, with third-person shooter action and plenty of parkour/climbing/bouncing make up the core of Sunset Overdrive’s zany gameplay. Featuring a colourful, humorous aesthetic and a cast of memorable characters, this is one you absolutely can’t miss – especially when it’s free. If you’d prefer to turn the crank on the deeper-thinking parts of your brain, though, you’ll have the opportunity, thanks to The Wolf Among Us. Based on the enormously popular series from DC Comics’ Vertigo label, the game follows Bigby Wolf (that is, “Big Bad Wolf”) who stalks 1980s Manhattan as he tries to solve a series of bizarre murders that appear to be taking out his fellow fairy tale characters… all of whom are (like Bigby) in disguise among the regular human population. You’ll recognize famous faces like Snow White, of course, but you’ll be floored by the many twists and turns that the story takes. Don’t miss your chance to get involved in one of the most addictive episodic gaming experiences ever. Now, on Xbox 360 (and Xbox One, too, thanks to the awesome power of backward compatibility), you get to start April off with the mother of all open-world mash-ups: Saints Row IV. Taking a poke at just about every open-world game out there, Saints Row IV puts you in the shoes of the Boss, the unnamed leader of the titular Saints, as they fend off an alien invasion of Earth using their skills learned as members of the world’s most badass street gang/corporate pitchmen. Yes, it’s a very insane game – but in a good way. Saints Row IV combines elements of role-playing, action, comedy, adventure, martial arts, and just plain crazy, in ways that no other series has. So get it while it’s free, kick your feet up, and have a good time. And when you’re done with the madness, get ready for one of the most pulse-pounding adventures ever put onto an optical disc with Dead Space. You take on the role of Isaac Clarke, space engineer – who finds himself marooned on a space station where something has gone horribly wrong. We don’t want to reveal too much… but this game’s amazing, horrific visuals hold up today. With a story so creepy and so genuine, you might have to play this one in the daylight. Don’t miss any of these titles while they’re free! Because, sadly, like everything in life: Games with Gold titles don’t stick around forever!

PlayStation 4 3.50 Update http://gaminguncut.com/news/playstation-4-3-50-update/ http://gaminguncut.com/news/playstation-4-3-50-update/#respond Tue, 01 Mar 2016 14:59:46 +0000 http://gaminguncut.com/?p=5601 Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today revealed the features included in the beta for the next major system software update 3.50, codenamed MUSASHI, for PlayStation 4. As part of the beta phase, players can schedule gameplay events with friends directly through their console. Players can also receive specific notifications as selected friends appear online. Top of the list of features is full support for PS4 players to set-up and arrange gameplay events in console as well as via the PlayStation App, making it easier for like-minded gamers and friends to arrange gameplay together. This feature also gives event hosts the ability to edit events after they’ve been scheduled, with invited friends and community members notified of any changes – Think outlook style meeting invite updates. In addition, players can now be notified as friends come online, bringing more visibility to when friends are available to play and inspiring more immediate interaction between gamers. This much-requested feature allows gamers to tailor notifications for individual friends, meaning it can be activated for a select group of close-friends, rather than the entire friends list. Whilst playing together is at the heart of the beta, the trial also brings functionality and improvements for those wishing to enjoy an uninterrupted experience on PS4. The ability to appear offline is included to allow gamers full immersion in their play experience, whilst still offering them the full suite of PS4 features. We wanted to detail some of the other features added to PS4 in this update. Sony is making it easier to connect and play together with friends and the wider community, as well as introducing some much requested features: Remote Play (PC/Mac) – Bringing PS4 Remote Play to Windows PC and Mac. This feature won’t be available to test in the beta, but you can look forward to it soon. PlayStation Plus – A new option in the PlayStation Plus destination will allow you to easily check and manage your online storage Dailymotion, New service partners in Share feature – Dailymotion, an additional live streaming service, will become available for PS4 users to enhance their broadcast experience. Anno 2205: Tundra DLC Released http://gaminguncut.com/news/anno-2205-tundra-dlc-released/ http://gaminguncut.com/news/anno-2205-tundra-dlc-released/#respond Mon, 29 Feb 2016 19:20:42 +0000 http://gaminguncut.com/?p=5593 Today, Ubisoft released Anno 2205: Tundra, the first major DLC for the city-building simulation along with a free update available today for all 2205 players. With Tundra, players will have access to a brand new sector to manage along with the Temperate, Artic and Moon sessions. In the desolate land of the Vanha Plains, players will gather new resources and complete specific quests to further improve their metropolises. In this new 82,000 acre territory, players will discover new gameplay tactics as they need to dry the marshes before settling in the area among the muskoxen and the icy surroundings. Two new population types are also available, the Tundra Scientists and the Tundra Protectors, of which players will have to manage their specific needs. In order to fulfill these needs, five new production chains and ten new goods types challenge players to use their management skills more effectively. A new additional module type can be unlocked by solving the sector quest and inquiring on the past generations failures. This module improves farms and factories in the Tundra sector, but also in all other regions of the game. Throughout the story quests and optional side quests, players will control a futuristic flying vehicle to hover over the desert landscapes. A free update named “Corporation HQ” is also available today for all Anno 2205 players. This patch enhances the corporation progression screen to make it more intuitive, and to provide a good overview of the player’s achievements and improvements. With this update, players can now sell goods depending on requests to NPC traders. Anno 2205: Tundra DLC is available to owners of the Anno 2205’s Season Pass, and can be purchased independently for all players.
